Broadening participation in MDM 2026
We offer awards to help students and early-stage researchers who belong to underrepresented communities to broaden participation in MDM 2026. These grants are possible via sponsorship funds that come from IEEE TCDE.
About the award
- One award is a maximum of 500$, but different amounts might be allocated to winners based on the actual funds availability.
- The sums spent by the awardee will be reimbursed only after they have been spent and after the actual conference participation.
- Covered expenditures include only transportation costs and accommodation costs.
- Awardees are responsible for making their own arrangements for travel and accommodation.
- Awardees will be contacted before the event with further details regarding the reimbursement process and allowed expenditures.
Selection Criteria
These awards aim to promote a more diverse participation in computer and data science events. The following factors will be considered in the selection. We thus encourage applicants to highlight them in their applications:
- Applicants who are students (undergraduate, graduate, or PhD), or early career researchers.
- Eligible applicants that are affiliated with an institution located in a low or lower-middle-income country, as defined in https://datatopics.worldbank.org/world-development-indicators/the-world-by-income-and-region.html, and primarily conduct their research activity in that country.
- Priority will be given to applicants with accepted papers at IEEE MDM 2026 and registered for the conference.

- Notification is due June 10, 2026.
After receiving the award
- Awardee recipients must register and attend the full conference.
